I had a service convert my 1960s movie film to digital video. He used a frame-by-frame process and did a marvelous job (www.foreverondvd.com). I now have a little over 1 hour of video on two Digital8 tapes and have transferred them to my PC for editing and burning to DVD. I am using Ulead MediaStudio Pro 7 to edit.
My questions:
1) I have significant experience with scanning/restoring photo negatives. I have used a white balance function to click on a portion of the image that I know should be neutral, and the program shifts the whole image color balance to make that spot neutral, thus correcting any color shift caused by fading. This movie film was faded and has a definite blue cast. In MSP7, there is a Color Balance and Color Correction video filter, but it seems that you have to manually adjust the separate RGB values instead of some auto function. Has anyone done this kind of correction in MSP7 before that can help me get the balance right?
2) The film was cleaned by the service, but there is still significant dust specks on the video. Is there such thing as a "dust removal" filter that can automatically remove the specks from each frame?
Thanks very much for your help!
Bryan
