  1. Peer-to-peer (P2P) networks are here to stay, and are on the verge of being exploited by commercial media firms, says a panel of industry experts.
Once several high-profile legal cases against file-sharers are resolved this year, firms will be very keen to try and make money from P2P technology.

Well, I didn't see that coming

Yeah, like I am going to pay to download a lossy-compressed version of a song I can't stand anyway.

I would rather pay for a non-lossy version that is cheap.

advertisers already are using them - as well as blogs and forums ...

'raging cow' is a good example of a blogger advertising campaign (which has backfired a bit say some) - first naming your drink after mad cow disease doesnt go over well with some -- like renaming crest: "gangrene toothpaste"

Those formats are lossy, not lossless.

Online Encoding Exclusive enables you to:

    1. Encode music with lossless encoding algorithms (Monkey's Audio, FLAC and OptimFrog) using the data of the original audio CD as a source.
    2. Encode music with our usual encoders (MP3, Ogg, etc.) using the data of the original audio CD as a source.

I must be crazy I never have a problem with the music I download sounds fine to me.
The real answer lies in completely understanding the question!

Whether it sounds fine to you is irrelevant. Those are still lossy formats as the music is compressed.

Those are also misleading because normally when you compress audio, you lose something.

I would rather download .wav files.

wav files from cd are also lossy in that regard .. cd audio throws out a LOT of the original audio .. almost 1/2 in fact .

I never download applications in ZIP archives - downloading the uncompressed exe makes the app work better and faster!
