How much space does XP pro with SP1 take up? I installed XP then the SP1 update and the space taken up is probably abour 300MB shy of the 2gig mark. I have no programs on there. Just the basic XP Pro OS.

Looks like you've answered your own question.

i didnt think it took up that much space. So if i add SP2 it will be damn close to the 2gig mark.

After a fresh install with SP2 and the cleanup process I do, I'm just barely over 1Gb.

If you're installing the service packs right after the OS install, (if you're going to install SP2, then just skip SP1) you can uncheck the option to back up files because you don't have anything to lose. I'm not sure what the size difference is if you install from an XP disk with SP2 included versus an RTM install and then adding SP2 afterwards.
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.

Or use AutoStreamer and make a slipstream CD to do a fresh install for SP2 (or SP1).

    Instructions can be found here.
