    Have scored the following memory

    256MB DDR 266MHz CL2.5 (one stick)
    256MB DDR PC2100 CL2.5 (two sticks)

I am runing a Gigabyte mother board around 5 years old, running a Cerion 733 (66Mhz bus). The mother board has 3 memory slots, currently with 2 128Mb memory slots.

Can I simply plug it in a see what happens? or could it damage my motherboard?

Also theres a program that gives you details on your motherboard and configuration, does anyone know where I can find it?
    Have a nice Day

If the slots are for DDR you should be fine, it won't damage anything. If they're not for DDR, don't force them, you WILL damage something. The easy way to be sure...SDRAM has two notches in it, DDR has only one. But if I had to guess, since your Cerion is only running on a 66MHz bus, it's almost definitely SDRAM. I'd hold on to that DDR memory for when you decide to upgrade.

Thanks guys, yes I think it does have SD RAM.

What speed is the DDR RAM I have scored?

Is it really worth keeping it, or will I need faster RAM with the next motherboard?

They are both PC2100 (266MHz DDR). They'll be fine for anything less than 800MHz FSB (Intel) or 400MHz FSB (AMD).
