  1. Google no help... hope someone here can.
Say I have two Plextor drives (different models) master and slave, and I want to do a firmware upgrade to one. Anything I need to do before running the upgrade? How will it determine which writer I want to apply it to?
    Thanks,
    NL.

I know this is probably too simple and deserves a laugh but I would rather be sure than screw something up.

Simple. If one is slave, unplug it. Do the upgrade. Then plug it back in and unplug the master, do the second upgrade. You might have to switch the slave to master for the second upgrade.

Really, it depends on the upgrade software. It should let you select the drive you want. If it tries to upgrade the wrong Plextor, you might have to unplug (Or temporarily disable) the other device.

    Thanks for the help!
I'm about to install a second writer. So it's possible that the upgrade may ask which writer to apply to. That, hopefully, will be the case and the easy way.
If not I will do as you stated and unplug one of the IDE cables and go from there.
See, I knew it would be simple
But I really appreciate the conformation.

Plextor's Firmware flashers are pretty fool proof. If it can not auto-detect the right drive, it should ask you to select one, or not run at all.

And yes, I have flashed with multiple plextor drives, never had a problem.
Some people say dog is mans best friend. I say that man is dog's best slave... At least that is what my dogs think.
