Me too! I'm thinking of buying the same unit. Anyone have it? Does it protect against coasters? $5-$6 is way too much too blow on a botched DVD-R.

No, you can't. Only (DVD)mpeg2 or (DVD)mpeg1 video and 48khz audio. It's up to your authoring software.
Lower the bitrate for the mpeg2 and you can use the same mpeg file for DVD and for XSVCD.

SHit! so your saying its going to be 760*480 (or whatever dvd is) and have the bit rate like at 2000Kbps for like svcd? What does the quality look like you guys?

Search search shearch...topic has been previously discussed...no you cant, you will have demux your mpeg and then burn in DVD format to the disk with the demux audio & video...no, it doesnt have to be 760x480,
DVD spec allows for 352x480, 352x240 for NTSC and appropiate equivalents for PAL...if you have it at 480x480, then yes you will need to resize to a dvd spec res.
