  1. Happy New Year,

Does anyone know whether the 5005 requires blank MUSIC
CD-Rs, CD-RWs, for recording redbook audio CDs or will it burn audio on computer CD-Rs, RWs?

    Thanks,

    Jim

  2. I tried recording one to see and an ordinary CD-R worked fine. No need for the MUSIC kind. However, note that it records the CD as one long audio track from what I could see. In other words, it actually records the audio rather than copying the CD as you would do on your computer. Does that make sense? Anyway, the CD played fine - just one long track.

I assume the main use would be in recording live audio from an external source to audio CD - would be great for that. Say, maybe extracting audio from a DVD or TV, Radio, etc.. Maybe you could get it to separate the tracks by stopping and starting the recording, etc., but I did not fool around with that - mainly just interested in confirming that it would record to the CD at all. By the way , sound quality seemed OK to me.

On the 5005 if you hit the Edit button after each song it will break it up into tracks. My dad is recording his cassette tapes to Cd and that is how he does it.

  4. Very cool, hootie29! Thanks for the tip! It makes sense, because when recording video you do the same thing to insert chapter breaks. Never would have occurred to me that this would work to separate tracks in an audio recording, though.

Kudos to your Dad for figuring this out!
