I have noticed that when ffmpegx calculates the length of a movie in VOB format it gets it wrong, my files were over an hour and a half long and yet it said 30 and 45 min when I loaded it into the ffmpegx gui. Just though that this should be taken care of because I have to go back ad check the exact length every time and enter it manually into the bitarate calculator... SOmetimes this even results in my final compressed XviD movie being too short and cutting off half way through even with the corrections!

You can use MPEG Streamclip to accuratly calculate the length of the VOB and then you can enter it manually in ffmpegX
