is there any pro logic 2 program that will allow you to convert to discrete 5.1?
say you take a stereo source, use the PL2 converter to give the wide and panoramic effect, and then record whatever is coming from each of the 5.1 channels in to their own discrete mono channels and then encode it in to 5.1 ac3 or dts? i'm basically just trying to use something to split up the stereo track and record the effect that PL2 produces in to 6 wav files.
sorry if this has been asked before...

I don't know of anything that can reverse engineer a pro-logic encoded track back to it's constituent parts. I would suggest that it would be quite difficult to do, given the way they are encoded in the first place.
Given the number of "how do I convert mono/stereo to 5.1" questions asked, and the number of "you cant really do it convincingly and the only way is manual" answers, the software you seek either does not exist at all, or does not exist in the realm of mortals.Read my blog here.
