Hi, Could someone pls help me to defeat this bug, that's been going on for a while.

Basicly I wanted add permanent sub into a *.avi file by Framserving from v/dub to tmpgenc.

I have tried everything thjat has been suggested:

METHOD 1. Installed V/dub handler, and setup the sub filter etc.... and run Frameserver from v/dub and let it run. Then goto tmpgenc and open *.vdr file - but i keep getting *.vdr cannot open or unsupported.

This method have worked in the past and I don't know why it stop working now??

METHOD 2. Install ReadAVS.dll file as suggested in the following link:
    https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=157329

When trying to select *.vdr within tmpgenc, I can see an option which allows you to select *.vdr files (so I guess i got the readavs.dll installed correctly). But it still say *.vdr cannot open or unsupported??!!!!! WHY!!

This where i got to and no luck whatsoever, therefore PLEASE help me on how 2 defeat this problem, Thanks in adv...

Install aviproxy located in virtualdub/aviproxy folder.
    rename .vdr > .avi
    load that.

    Pls assist further:

    Software Details:
    V/dub ver: 1.5.10 & 1.4.9 (Have tried to use 1.4.9 handler - no joy)
    Tmpgenc ver: TMPGEnc Plus-2.521.58.169

When you tried vdub 1.4.9 did you uninstall the handler for version 1.5.10 before you installed the handler for 1.4.9? Is your video or vdr file buried in a mountain of folders? In other words does TMPG have to go through a half dozen folders to get the the file? Is the file name a long name? Have you tried frameserving this film without the subs? Do you have the proper codecs installed for the avi? If all else fails try this link https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=87293&highlight=msvcr70%2Bdll. Let us know how you make out.

Maybe your missing a vital step. Here's the exact sequence.

    1. Load auxsetup - install frameserver handler
    2. Load .avi file into Virtualdub
    3. Select 'start frame server' - click start
    4. save .vdr signpost as <filename>.avi
    5. Load up TMPGenc - locate and load video source <filename>.avi

  7. 1. Install handler. (auxsetup.exe)
    2. Load in VDub. File > Start Frameserver"
    3. <filename>.vdr.avi
    4. Open in TMPGEnc.

Tip: If it is a very long filename it will not work. Make it something simple. (I am referring to the box that appears before the Save As dialog for the .vdr file.)

THANK YOU!!!!! I can't thank you enough fellow forum members, it was the *.avi file name that was far toooooooooooo long. I have change it to much shorter name and walla TMPGENC recognised it immediately, MASSIVE PHEW!!

I had this same exact problem when I was first trying to frameserve. I did everything in the tips for it to work, but it still continued to give me an error. This should be noted in the guides (if it is, I didn't see it before) that long .avi file names will not work, and that you have to shorten the name before frameserving it.
