  1. i checked the tutorials for editing dvds and the site only shows mpegs. i'm not sure but am i supposed to convert the dvd? I want to rip the DVD to my computer, then edit it (cut out a few clips), get only 90 seconds worth of clips and burn it. simple, no menus or anything. All i want is the dvd to play all the clips.

If there is a guide please show me the link, I couldn't find it

Yes we have guides on making clips from DVDs and guides on making DVDs out of clips. You may have to read more than one though, as I'm not sure if we have one that covers both.

VOBs are authored MPEG-2. I don't know of any software that lets you edit VOBs directly, so AFAIK you must "convert" back to MPEG-2 (it really isn't a conversion, more just an extraction of the MPEG-2 file AFAIK) and this guide might assist you with that. You can then use an MPEG-2 editor such as MPEG-VCR or VideoRedo, and then save your finished product back out to MPEG-2. Finally, you then need to author your MPEG-2 so that it turns back into VOB files.
    If in doubt, Google it.
