yeah that's my video display adapter and I have tried three different drivers and three different OS-es.

Laptop model is Sony PCG FX340.

I am not sure if it was custom made or something else (since originally it is XP but it also handles 2k as Sony has drivers for it), my father bought it of from something similar to ebay. It's been working just fine for three years now, and recently I was given this free laptop from my dad.

However, there is one possibly small issue. Screen has two small dark spots which may suggest that something might be wrong with screen (it had a bulb replaced also).

However, everything BUT the movie playback looks just fine. Power DVD reports that there is video acceleration present also.

So here is the issue. The mpeg-1 VCD movies are probably the most noticeable. The picture is given extreme amount of brightness and EVERY other monitor but THIS one looks sharper and deeper (3D feel like picture - compare Interlaced VS non-interlaced but some of that feeling should remain on VCD-s also).

Moreover on VCD-s Blend-Field alike artifact is present (hence the depth loss as mentioned earlier) as if it was interpolated from PAL to NTSC.

Even if I lower the brightness on the display adapter properties and enhance contrast, the playback still remains bright (Probably no effect on overlay).

My question is - Is this just a bad display adapter or am I missing something?
