I was browsing thru Ebay and somehow ended up on Sears liquidation pages. I placed a bid and won a Panasonic DMR-E55S for $134.00. I wasn't sure what I had won and that it might be a piece of junk that someone had returned for problems. To my surprise when it came it was in the original box and packing, everything was there, even the advertising decals and signs. All the manuals and registration cards were there. I registered it with Panasonic with no problem. I connected it to a second Directv receiver and it works perfectly with not a single problem. I guess that maybe I was lucky. It was cosmetically perfect. The only thing I saw that might be out of the ordinary was the remote had duracell batteries rather than Panasonic in it.

  2. Hello bobaber

Great price on the Panasonic. Take a look at this thread for some tips and tricks wih your Panny https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=251884. Although it deals with a different model than yours, it may still be useful. Good luck.

I also have a DMR-E85HS and followed the instructions you refer to. I found that both the DMR-E85HS and the DMR-E55S were already set to the parameters listed. Thanks for the info.

After seeing your post I went to ebay and scored a DMR-E55S for $130. With tax and shipping the total cost is $145.45. Not a bad deal IMO. Thanks for the info.

What those liquidation sales are mostly consumer returns, many of them were returns because they thought they can copy commercial dvds and when they couldnt those units got returned,i mean thats how I got my E-80h for a good price too.
