  1. Has anyone heard of a tool called WavePad? There is a free version as well as a pay version. It appears to be wonderful. I tried Audacity and GoldWave. Both filter hiss and buzz but both produce some odd results (either some crackle or a kind of sound like scraping against metal - mild and only occationally, but to someone sensitive to the audio, noticable). However, WavePad not only cleared up my buzz and hiss beautifully, but produced no odd effects. And I believe it loaded, processed, and saved faster as well. All for free.

Sounds too good to be true, but for me, that it is great. Please let me know what you think.

  2. I cannot believe that noone is interested in this tool. Come on. Where is our audio community? Someone has to have either heard of this tool or be interested in it enough to try it out. This site is too active for this to be completely ignored. (I am not even asking for help this time.)

I use Goldwave for audio editing, but will give WavePad a tester when I've got time.

Will the free version create fade in/outs? Will it time stretch? If so, I'm all over it.

And is your avatar a knight who says "nih"?

  5. I just downloaded the free version of WavePad. It's a nice little audio editor. Very easy to use, fairly powerful. Yes, it does fade in/out and time stretch. I haven't tried more sophisticated stuff yet. Worth checking out... Thanks syeager!

One thing I found that doesn't work well is the "Constant Pitch Speed Change" -- as you might want to do when converting PAL to NTSC or vice versa. The result was distorted. Still it looks like a great tool for light to moderate editing tasks.

Yeah, but are those features always free, or is there some time period in which you have to "register?"

If it can cut, copy, paste, time stretch, and fade ... well heck that's about all I need!

Sorry dude, there are so many apps around which offer the same stuff - for me this is nothing special anymore -> take a look at neroīs wave editor after adding all free plugins (I know it isnīt freeware but almost everyone owns it) or f.e. audacity or Audio Cutter Cinema which offer really a little more for free!
