Does anyone have any idea how to encode a interlaced movie and make it playback SMOOTH? Im having lots of problems with fast panning cameras screwing up the picture, a bit of flicker when the camera pans. Or when there is alot of fast motion, I have tried almost everything I know how to do. If anyone can suggest anything, that would be great.
Thanks

So if i have a NTSC film, Interlaced and want to convert it to SVCD i dont have to do anything to it?... Thats what i got outta of that. Dont use forced film or ivtc.....just rip it and encode it to SVCD, is that true?
thanks -
not quite as simple.....u have to make sure in video tab in config that
1)fps is 29.97
2) interlaced is checked
3) 3:2 pulldown is NOT checked
also check in video source settings
1)video source should be interlaced
2)make sure u choose right field order...i'm not sure which one is correct..(it doesn't matter unless u wanna play the rip on a TV or any other interlaced display like a TV) computer monitors are progressive display so field order doesn't matter
however, if u plan on watching rip on TV, try encoding a small sample and burning it and watching it on TV. if it's jumpy, then switch the field order and try again -
Better way to check the field order is in TMPGEnc, choose
(Even-Odd field) and then move the slider back and forth to look at the video - one field order will look OK, the other will look obviously wrong.
If you're doing "Forced Film" - there's no point to deinterlacing (if you NEED de-interlacing, you shouldn't have used "Forced FILM". Just make sure to tell the encoder that the source is progressive/non-interlaced, and add the 3:2 pulldown.
