  1. is there any way to do what dvdshrink does but to a mpg file instead of a set of vobs

    Yep Just enocde your file at a smaller bitrate.

  5. i sed what dvdshrink does. that doesnt reencode at a smaller bitrate does it? so shut up. i mean something wat takes about half an hour

    If you clicked on the link to check out rejig then you could see what it does,not very polite are you.

    Rejig is the way to go. It only works on the elementary video stream so you will have to demux your mpeg. Then transcode the file...works fairly quickly. Then multiplex your new video with your audio.

    BTW everyone gave valid answers. So why the attitude?
