  1. I connected my sons JVC Vid cam to the PC via the S-Video cable and "hurrah" it shows-up and can be captured in Pinnacle Studio.

Obviously when messing about to start with I tried a few things and cancelled out of them.

Now, when I click "Capture Video", I get a few error messages asking about an (unavailable) AVI file presumably from a first abandoned project.

Clicking on "New Project " doesn't seem to have any effect and I end-up effectively appending to the first try.
I can delete the blank scenes from the list of scenes on the screen and save it all as a new project (prior to any burning of a DVD)

However, next day, I get the same objections showing up - that it can't open "JD1.avi"

I just want to start over now I know what I want to do!

    Anyone use Pinnacle??
when I were a lad we didn't have all this new-fangled stuff

  2. I use Pinnacle but I do all my "capture" via firewire cable (1394) from a miniDV digital camcorder. Are you using an analog camcorder or digital? Is the camcorder on and set to "vcr" before you open pinnacle? Have you set up the capture config to match what you are giving it as input?

More info would help others help you figure this out.

I use Pinnacle, but have never dealt with what you are seeing.

Have you tried uninstalling the program and reinstalling it?

You shouldn't have to do that. Are you sure Pinnacle is looking for a file rather than a folder? Especially in capture mode?

Which version of Pinnacle are you using?

Make sure your capture settings are set right.
