I have this drive and it's running patched 1.16 firmware. I tried to flash to 1.18 patched firmware and I keep getting the message "unable to open J: drive". This is the correct designation for my drive (confirmed in Windows XP). I did use captital J also. The drive was empty (I left it open). I tried all sorts of permutations of "dvrflash -v J: R......., etc. I confirmed the files and dvrflash are in the root directory (cI've tried the official Pioneer firmware and, of course, it wouldn't flash cause I was running patched firmware.
What can I do?![]()

Problem solved!
I used the wrong dvrflash file. Of the three created (dos, win32, linux), I used the dos one by mistake. I got confused since I was using the dos prompt in windows. Anyways I was at the end of rope and replaced the dos file with the win 32 one. Lo and behold, my drive flashed.
Note to self. Write down directions step by step and file away. Don't rely on over 40 year old brain cells to remember.
