  1. Is there a way that I can fit a widescreen format MPEG file onto a DVD? Right now, the file is an AVI, and I need to encode it, but it's widescreen right now. It is 576x240, and I don't want to make it 720x480, because it would look too weird. Are there any ways I can make it fit? Thanks!

    Widescreen video for DVD is an attribute, the resolution has nothing to do with it. Look up anamorphic in the glossary. Use software that supports widescreen encoding and authoring.

    thecoalman is correct. Look at the definative guide: https://www.videohelp.com/guides.php?guideid=360#360 by DJ Rumpy

    And then try SVCD2DVD v2.0 which does all the stuff in the guide automatically. http://www.svcd2dvd.com/downloads.aspx#SVCD2DVD2
    SVCD2DVD v2.5, AVI/MPEG/HDTV/AviSynth/h264->DVD, PAL->NTSC conversion.
