Hi, guys,
I wonder if you can help me out here, Iīve recently had to go through a WinXP reinstall on my computer and one of the side effects is that my DVD player(s) wonīt play a few of my DVDs.
Itīs weird because I didnīt have this problem before.
Now, when I slip the DVD into the tray, Power DVD 5 will start and it will recognise the DVD inside, right down to all the information but it simply wonīt start playng the film.
I nboticed that it only happens to my dual layer DVDs (is that the name you call those DVDs with two shiny faces that have readable tracks on both sides?).
Iīd really appreciate any help you can give me out here, I just purchased this rather expensive boxset I was dreaming with for ages and it too wonīt play, just sits there at the corner of my room mocking me.
Help.
Please.

no thats double sided dvd... each side has dual layers. dont know why they wouldnt work though. r they all the same company? warner bros used to do that alot... have u tried the disc in a another player?

Yeah, Iīve tried on boith players and no result (on the 2nd player, it wonīt even detect the presence of a DVD in the tray).
Iīve ran through almost all of my collection and so far, these are the only ones that are giving me this trouble.
The only thing they have in common is the fact that theyīre double sided.
The first boxset is a TV series, the other is japanese animation.
Iīm this close to start banging my head against the walls.

hmmm... odd. r they some dodgy bootlegs or something? iv had some chinatown bootlegs that wouldnt work and i made new copies of them with nero and they worked fine. crappy media. other than that all i could suggest is update the firmware on ur drive. was the 2nd player a physical dvd player or a software player?
-
I have a couple bootlegs in here, but these are all originals, bought in e-stores.
The thing is these are Region 1 DVDs and I live in region 2;
Region killer (2.7 1.0) has always saved me in these ocasions (I have DVDs from all regions in all corners of the world, from HK films to hollywood), but now itīs starting to look bad.
Both drives are physical DVD players."They say that if you play the Windows CD backward you can hear satanic speech; well, thatīs nothing.

hmm. when i asked if they where physical i meant a stand-alone dvd player. try them in a stand alone and see what happens... does the operating system recognise the discs? if so try copying the disc to the harddrive as an image and see if u can play it then with a virtual drive?

Sounds like your region free software isn't working.
