I received this for Christmas, and finally got brave enough to tackle learning how to use. Well, if that isn't going to be hard enough, I can't even get it hooked up correctly!
I am trying to connect it with: Cable box, VCR, and a dvd player. I am trying to run all connections through the back, as ant to keep the front for camcorder. I have it hooked up now with the cable running into the Recorder, out to the cable box, with connections to the vcr and tv. The problem is it will not recognize all the channels the cable box offers. Also, will not let me manually add them.
I tried running the cable to the cable box and then into the recorder, but it will not run. This seems the logical way to to it, as this way the tv gets all the channels....
I am so confused, and just about ready to pull my hair out.... your help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Seeing you have more than one video device (VCR, Cable Box, DVD Player) to hook up to your TV go to WalMart's video game dept, they have a unit with 5 push buttons that you can connect up to 5 video devices to your TV. It's a good deal for $20 and it has a built in RF Modulator (you may, or may not need), and includes some cables. Make sure you have enough RCA style video & stereo audio, or S-Video cables (better but does not carry the sound but you can get a S-Video cable that has RCA sound connectors also) to connect everything into the switch box, (it comes with all the cables you will need to connect to your TV). You are trying to hook everything up in series, this is bad because when going from one video device to another you loose video\audio quality. Not to speak of the nightmare of trying to figure out what each unit should be set at, and also MacroVision problems.
