  1. Ok i got this VCD i made in tmpgenc, i lowered the bitrate to 950 to make it fit on a 80 min cd. And naturally Nero needs to bitch about it, it either wants to re-encode it for me or i can just turn the standard compliant thing off and get to the burn dialog.

But the problem now is Nero is complaining about the CD not having enough space on it. The VCD file is 738 mb (774mb), and i always thought a (s)vcd could be up too 800mb and still fit on a 80 min CD (i burned a svcd earlier today without problems).

So how do i get Nero to burn it as a vcd and not complain about the cd?

Oh and btw, is there anyway to make Nero NOT spit out the cds all the time. It spits the cds out if anything is wrong, it spits it out when its finished etc. Checking "do not spit out cd when writing done" thingy doesnt work as it stills spits it out if it needs to bitch about something...

  2. And i'm sorry if i sound a bit rude or anything, but im just sick and tired of this BS Nero program, i've been at it for hours... What are the developers thinking...Christ just make a simple burning program.....

    end rant

  3. Do a search for the "VCD header trick".
The just tell Nero to turn off compliance and continue.

Ensure your in Nero proper (not Nero Express) and then burn the file in MODE 2.....voila! it will now fit on your CD (but wether or not your DVD player will play it is another matter as its not a valid VCD with that 950 bitrate.....try it).

    HTH

PS. Nero works OK for me.

  5. monzie: You mean the drop-down box under "ISO" in the burn dialog? That one is greyed out, but it's set to "MODE 2 / XA".

    reboot: Thanks

YES, in NERO use CD-ROM (on the left hand side icons) as the format and then select MODE 2..if you have a DVD burner dont forget to select the CD burner first.

  7. It still complains about not enough space and spits out the CD. Gonna take a look at the header trick...

Can't you just use the video-CD template (in either Nero or Nero Express), turn off standard compliance, and drag-drop ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

    (scratches head)..it shouldn't do...approx 810mb will fit on a 80min CDr when burnt in MODE 2.

  14. monzie: Hmm it's a Sony cd-r, never used them before.

But the header trick worked and my dvd seems to play it just fine except for the very annoying fact that my DVD does'nt keep the aspect ratio and plays it in full screen for some reason.

I thought the 'header trick' was for SVCD's to fool the DVD player into thinking they are VCD's?

I *think* you'll find that that's because VCD must be 4:3, but I could be wrong.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  17. Well all i know is that it worked (well sorta since my DVD wont play it back with the correct aspect ratio).

And it shaved of a little over 1mb from the VCD file wich seems a little strange?

  18. jimmalenko: Nah VCD can be any aspect ratio. I have VCDs thats 16:1 (or whatever widescreen is).

EDIT: Err well atleast they look like 16:bla when i watch them on the tv. And when i play the VCD i just burnt using my PC it is NOT fullscreen but widescreen (but fullscreen on my DVD).
