i have a dual boot and i would like to capture and author dvds on a shared partition.
what is the best format?
fat32 is what i havenow which has a 4 gig lmit.
ntfs cant be written to in linux.
im open to any solution?

You want to know what the best is for linux? I have no Clue.
Besides that I would go with NTFS. -
NTFS is what you need for working with large files. 30 minutes of DV can take 6-7 GB before compressing to MPEG2 DVD. How about MAC, isn't OS10 linux based? They can't have a 4GB limit for file sizes!?

linux is great, but for servers and netwroking.
you should use ntfs if you want no limit. -
yeah i guess what i am after is maybe a mac format or somting that accessable to both. i know ntfs will work for windows but i was hoping there was a format both:
read/writable from linux
can handle very large files
if this format does not exist then ill go with ntfs as suggested.check out the afrobros at
