Does anyone know what the best setting for a video like this would be using tmpeng plus?? The file is an anime with subtitles already added.. My problem is that when i did this before with a 640 x 480 anime it didn't show the subs right. Any help would be greatly appreciated.. thanks

If you are using the wizard:
1. when you get to the part thats titled "Filter Setting" click "Clip Frame" (a window should then pop up)
2. Click the button that says "Arrange Setting"
3. Here you have 2 options for a 480x360vid as far as I see....
-If you want to keep the aspect ratio then set the Arrange Method dropdown menu to "Center (Custom Size)" and set it to 520x390 (there will be black bars on the sides when you watch it on a tv)
-If you want it to fill the screen while on a tv then set the Arrange Method dropdown menu to "Center (Custom Size)" and set it to 580x390 (this will stretch the image a bit while watching on tv)
(If you are not using the wizard then you can get to the "Clip Frame" window by clicking on the "Setting" button in the lower right, then clicking the "Advanced" tab, then double clicking on "clip frame")
What this whole process does is add a black border around your video during the encode so that the image is resized to the "Safe Zone" of your tv.
Just for future note: If you are encoding a DVD (which is 720x480) then the TVs safe zone is gonna be 580x390.
Hope that helps. Good luck!
EDIT: Sorry, I gave you the wrong resolutions! I though you were asking for a 640x480 video.... they're fixed now... hope I caught it before you followed my wrong directions -
Hey thanks for the replies.. i tryed to just use the regular dvd template settings before i read your replies and the video came out good but still with overscan, subtitles were still cut off.. if i could just shrink it just a bit without losing the actual size of it or even make it widescreen format i would be ok

Well you could set the output aspect ratio to 16:9. That would squeeze the image so that it so that it looks wide screen. You loose the aspect ratio that way though. And even then you still might get the very sides of the subs cut off. The best way to go for fansubs is adding the border. If you actually resize the video then your DVD player will just stretch it to fit your TV anyway.
I wish fansub groups would consider the TV safe zone when adding the text. But most of them assume you will just be watching it on your PC.
