  1. there are so many things on my mind about all of this burning, software, media & burners it is going to make my brain melt. Okay, I'll try to think so please bare with me, well I bought my dvd burner and was very happy, well I installed nero and was still happy then I found out that all of my video recorded avi files can be converted perfectly to dvd then that made me happy to a point where I could not describe the meaning happy. First I played them in my new dvd burner/player then I played them in one of the dvd players in the house and it didn't work, this was very odd to me because I have an Apex dvd player which plays most media and a good amount of different files (vcd, mp3, jpeg) so I tried it in another player (a cheap symphonic I believe) and it played perfectly but then I tryed to play it in my new philips dvp-642 and this dvd player should play every thing on the planet but it doesn't so my unbelievable happiness turns into a different and unhappy direction and the main thing that took it all away is I put the dvd back into its maker (my sony dru-710a) and it does not play and thinks that it is corrupted and friends have tryed it in there dvd player and no luck. Now at that point I'm thinking a ton of horrible and frightening things like "My new sony dvd burner is broke!" or "The hp dvd media gets corrupted after 24 hours?!" but recently I copied a dvd of a ski trip that someone else made and it is perfect it plays in all the dvd players in the house and was not used with nero to create and now I think that nero either does not encode my video properly, it does not burn correctly or something. So you can probably imagine how I felt and feel right now, ( sort of in that order, I thought that nero was the best and you gotta help me, I dont know what the heck to do.
ps only if you really think you know what I should do, post me a message
PEACE OUT TO ALL MY HOMIES

  2. Use DVDDecrypter->ISO read->ISO write to make a copy.Another option is to drag the VIDEO_TS folder to desktop and make an ISO with Nero then burn with DVDDecrypter.
    Nero 6.6 is buggy,that's why I reinstalled 6.3.
Another problem is media, look to the left in "DVD Players" to see what works and use quality media.

4 suggestions..... Update your firmware for your DVD burner, make sure your software has the latest updates and patches, burn at a slower rate, try different discs.

Not all players are compatible with all burned discs...... Simply changing from +r to -r may be all you need to do if your burner supports both formats if the above suggestions don't work. As moviegeek suggested check out your player under the list to the left.

  5. Such a long post with so little info!

What format are your source files?
    How where they created?
    What codecs where used?
What are you trying to do? (Play stuff on a standalone DVD player I guess).

Help us to help you, more info is required.

My disks are alright, not the best (HP) but nothing is wrong with them and my burner is pretty nice (SONY DRU-710A) and shouldn't need firmware updates for a while, I really think that Nero is messed up or I have wrong settings and I need to find out what they are.

When you open nero and the compilation menu pops up select dvd-video,make sure you are not selecting dvd-rom(iso).

HP does not make disks, they put their brand on several different ones. Until you eliminate the disks as a problem then it's pointless guessing any further. Click here for more info.

BTW your "stream of conciousness" writing style is not very reader friendly. It's better to stick to the point and maybe ask a few direct questions next time.

I am quite chilled thank you very much, but your 1st post was very difficult to read and understand. Nowhere did you say they were divx/xvid, just avi. This can mean a number of things. You still havn't supplied their specs (resolution, framerate) or any info on how they were created, or maybe they were downloaded, I don't know as my crystal ball is in the shop for its annual service

You are pretty quick to reject the advice given but seem unwilling or unable to answer the questions asked of yourself. This is not the best way of resolving your problems.

As I said in my previous post, help us to help you, or you will just get frustrated with the lack of progress.
