    First off, hello everyone.

I am having a great deal of trouble trying to burn DVD or SVCD or VCD, i don't know really. But, I want them to play in my car and work with a menu that i can separate by artist (a menu with sub menus).

The unit I am trying to play on is a Pioneer AVH-P6500DVD, it plays DVD/CD/Video CD.

    I am also using....

Nero Ultra Edition with the SmartStart
    Tool Kit
    Info tools

I am sure I can burn with this program being that it was very expensive and can perform many functions, i just don't know how to go about doing it. I am very new at this and would be very appreciative if someone could help me, I may even be willing to pay thru paypal if i get the help i need.

I have tried using VCD and SCVD and svcd doesn't hold enough stuff for me and didn't burn properly, (i have a stack in the garbage of those because i couldn't burn over them. I also tried VCD and i had the best results with that but the menu i customized and put on would not work, i could not make a selection off of it, i only could play it from the beginning and move forward and back track to track. Since i have bought dvd+r discs but have not tried them since it wasn't working with the cd-r discs i was using.

I hope i gave enough information, if you want some money or need further info you can get me at......

    holychitbatman@aol.com

    THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!

we would like to help you -- but need a little more info ...

what are you using for source files ?
what are you using for encoding ?
what are you using for authoring (if you were to make a dvd - which is prob. the best route for you to go) ?

have you read any guides here ?

Neither did that post bro, hows about telling me what you want to know. I don't know what authoring or encoding is.

I forgot to add that i am using run of the mill files off limewire and kazaa, (music video files) to watch while driving, actually parked.

I just want to list artists on a menu and have those artists songs on a sub menu when you select that artist. I have made discs with menus, but not sub menus and i could not use the menu with my remote or head unit. I could only start from the last track on the disc, then back up to previous songs in order to play the whole disc or start at the end and skip all the way to the beginning in order for it to play as a cd normally would.

You say you're having trouble burning DVDs or (S)VCDs... But what are you trying to burn onto them? Are they home shot movies, backed up DVDs that you've ripped, downloaded (legal) files?

The files will most likely be like filename.??? - tell us what the ??? is.

Once we know that, we can tell what type of guides to look for...

The MPEGs need to be compliant to the relevant specs for DVD, SVCD or VCD - see the "What Is..." link (top left of the page) for the relevant specs.

To get the required info on your files, use either AVICodec or the beta version of GSpot.

If they are compliant, check out VCDEasy for SVCDs and VCDs. There are other tools. Or any one of a number of authoring tools for DVDs.

There are links that will explain the tools and how to author.

People are giving you a hard time coz you never read any guides and didn't really provide much info (following BJ_M's questions). If you don't know what info to put - fair enough, but not answering people's questions doesn't help.

I asked "But what are you trying to burn onto them? Are they home shot movies, backed up DVDs that you've ripped, downloaded (legal) files?" and you never said - knowing this will help, not just that they're .mpg's.

Depending on how you got the .mpg's will mean different advice and suggestions will need to be offered. Until then, people can't help.

Granted, a little more patience and indulgence is warranted, but there are so many people who don't look and want others to do it all for them that it's difficult to stay patient - hence the erplies you got.

When you registered, the rules did ask that you try to do a bit of research before posting - trying to help yourself before asking others to help you. Not unreasonable.

ok, i will do my best at answering...

I downloaded the files illegally i believe. I didn't pay for them, like I said before...I got them off a popular people to people fileshare program, you may have heard of it, Kazaa. These files that i obtained were video files in .mpg format, though i didn't check them all, most had that extension. The files had audio and video, mostly of african americans, cars, women, and ice, also known as bling bling. I want to put these files in the correct format so as I can group these files by artist on the menu, then have a second menu so you can pick one of the artists songs. I know this is not rocket science because i bought one off ebay that another human made. I am not a stupid person, I know this can be done with the shit that i listed.

They are .mpg video files off Kazaa
    I have friggin Nero
    I have a burner
    I have dvd+r and cd-r

Why is this so complicated, can i not make what i want with this combination, this is fuggin retarded. I have went through at least 25 cds and still haven't got what i want or learned that much. I work full time and i'm a full time student also. I have burnt up half my holiday break trying to figure this out so i'm sry if I seem lazy or just want someone else to do most the work, but i am at that point. If i can't do it with this combination then

I want to pay someone to do it that it will be relatively simple for. I don't want to offend anyone by saying this because i know how much time everyone else has invested in this and you are very knowledgable of this stuff and dont' want a completely ignorant person begging for help, but.... this would be like another hobby for me, and believe me, i don't need one soooo....with that said, is there some kind of membership or donation button i can hit to get a little more help and a little less searching and reading for myself. Don't get pissed everyone, I work too much and learn too much to have time for, take advantage of the offer and make some money on what you already know. I work alot, therefor i have less time and more money. You my friends have the opposite senario, it is a cycle. Get it? I may just want to pay for a service, so don't flame me, i am familiar with forums and how they work, say what you will, i dont' feel like hitting the faq's page or the search button. Thanks to whoever will do this for me.....holychitbatman on aim, i will be online daily, don't be affraid to hit me up.
