I realize that the above is not re-writable, but if I write to this disc and do not fill it up, will I be able to fill it at a later time or is it one shot and done?
Also, what does "dvd ripping" mean?
Thanks.

If you're talking about using a dvd recorder with the discs (a vcr for dvd's) then if you don't finalize the disc after recording you can addd more stuff until it's full, but the disc will only playback in the recorder until finalized. If you're not talking about using a dvd recorder and wanting to put dvd content onto a disc with your pc you need to read up on how dvd's are authored and how they are burnt but basically the answer is no.
DVD ripping is the term used for copying dvd files from a dvd disc to your pc, they need a ripping program because the files are encripted to stop you just copying them. It's not illegal to rip a dvd onto your pc as you are legally alowed to own a backup copy of dvd's you own (so you don't dammage the original) and as long as you own the original.I could dance with you till the cows came home..... on second thoughts i'd rather dance with the cows till you came home.
