  1. I converted a Divx file using WinAvi to DVD. It created a VIDEO_TS file and I was able to burn it without any problems.I was able to view the DVD without any problems until it reached chapter 8 on the DVD. Anyone know why this happen? Also is there a problem having a *.VOB file 4gigs on a DVD? I setup WinAvi to make a chapter every 600sec. Can that have been the problem?
    Thank You in advance.

VOBs should be 1GB (1024MB) to be DVD-compliant. I'd say your player choked on the big file.
    If in doubt, Google it.

What happens after chapter 8? (That should be at 1.20, right?) What's the total running length? Bad media usually shows its ugly face at the end of the disc, so it could be a bad media issue. For dodgy media, keep the total size down at or below 4.2 GB to avoid the troublesome outer part of the disc.

  4. My VOBs file was 4 gig's. That's what probably caused it. How should I use WinAVI? I've read the guide and I did it just like the guide explained. Anyone else is using WinAVI convert to DVD? What is your technique?

  5. on output setting, constant video quality-select highest quality, winavi should make the vobs 1013mb in size, not really a big deal but you could change them to 1024 like jimm suggests.(definately NOT 4gig!)
if you want to do it by disc size, make sure that constant video is selected, and the disc size is 4300mb.as for chapters, try the standard 150 and see what happens.
and finally the preference should be set to "by quality".
these settings apply to version 6 and over, but dont hold out much hope on help from the team at winavi,i mailed them about an error on 6.2 and they sent me a mail saying to try the version they attached with the mail,it was version 5.8!. go figure.

  6. If I don't use there burning software should I need to author the DVD? Can someone post there exact settings using version 6.0 to be able to create a 4.3 gig DVD? I got a DVD file of 12 gig for a 1.2 gig DIVX file. How could that be??

Read some of the AVI to DVD guides found left. Skip those using one-click-wonder applications like DVDSanta, DIKO, WinAVI &c. You won't learn anything reading those.
