Hi all,
Just got a liteon 5005, trying to record DV video I have on miniDV tapes. I used DVD+R disc, and 1394 fireware connection and SP recording speed. The problem is when I record about over 30 minutes video continously, when I press STOP, the stopping process will hang forever. When I finally stop the process by turning the power off, I'll end up with a invalid disc.
Has anybody had the same problem, or know how to get around it?
Thanks in advance!
David

Have not tried this yet, but I have read elsewhere that quality is just as good using the S-Video or composite inputs. Have you tried that?
When I get a chance, I will try to test the DV input functionality on my 5005 and let you know what I find out.

Take it back and get another one.
No problems here with firewire from my mini-DV camera.
I used the RCA jacks before I had the DV cable, but haven't really compared the quality. I just bought the miniDV and the improvement over 8mm is amazing to me. -
Recording from Camcorder to Liteon LVW 5005.
I have had the 5005 for about a month now. Had no problems recording from TV, VCR (my own home movies). Then I tried to record my home movies from the Panasonic PV-L550D camcorder. This is where the problems started. I made about 5 coasters before realizing it was the media type. I had been having great success with the VCR, TV recordings using TDK DVD +R 4x and Sony DVD +R 4x. I also have some Ridata DVD -R 4x GO4 that I presumed where absolute junk until I tried one of them with the Camcorder. They work great with the camcorder. I have it hooked up to the front of the Liteon with the cable that came with the camera. It is an RCA yellow and one white for sound. The only option for this camera. I did also find that during recording, page 17 in the manual is not exactly the way it worked for me. I did the following and it worked great.
Using Ridata DVD-R 4x media.
Get camera hooked up and at starting point.
Press Stop on camera, but leave power on.
Use SETUP menu on Liteon remote.
Select: HQ 1 hr. mode. (what I prefer)
Exit on the above menu.
Select: Guider on remote, then Record.
Put a Blank DVD in the tray, close, wait until done reading.
Select AV-1 and Enter.
Now the GO Icon menu is displayed.
Select GO and record the blank CamCorder screen for a few seconds.
Then select the PLAY button on Camcoder.
When you get to the point to end recording, do not select the STOP.
Select PAUSE button on Liteon remote.
Select STOP button on camcorder, but leave the power on until done.
Select GUIDER on Liteon remote.
Select FINALIZE.
Now EJECT
This is the only way that would not make a coaster for me. Hope it will be of value to someone else. Unfortunate we cannot get tech advice from manufacturer a little easier.
