If it is 80 minutes, it does not matter.

Missing a few details here. You downloaded/were given it/made it yourself? What are you starting with and what are you trying to achieve?

  4. Make an SVCD instead of VCD, use VBR, and split it in half to put on 2 cdr's.

Do you have that wrong? Do you mean to say that an 800 Meg file becomes 698 Meg when you go to burn it as a VCD (or SVCD)? That's right as the protections for a straight file are removed if it is burned as a video file. I made one myself the other day. It was 835 Meg that when burned to an SVCD was 698 Meg. Do the check in Nero and burn the file as VCD or SVCD video. Works for me...

I get the feeling this is something Halfie downloaded and 698MB became 800MB. If this is correct then whoever made the original needs a slapping.

Since this is the newbie query section I'm assuming he doesn't know about burning the file as a video file rather than as an ISO...

Without seeing any file stats, or knowing what your're burning with (Hint: post a GSpot screen dump of your source file and give more details in your first post ), I'd say you're dropping it straight into Nero and Nero's trying to re-encode it to standard compliant VCD, which is resulting in the file size being bloated over 800MB.
    If in doubt, Google it.
