i am trying to edit mpeg files in TMPGEnc. for some reason i cant go to what section of the file i want in mpeg tools. i tried playing a file i tried to go the the middle, but it reset and started playing from the beginning. it will play allright if i dont try to move the search bar, but i use it to find out approx. where i need to cut the file. also any other editing program wont search either. whe i try to open a file in WMP it says at the bottom cant fine an appropriate decompressor but it will still play. i installed WMP 7.0 or 7.1 and it still wont work. i am using Win2000 Pro. The files played fine yeaterday. Any help wil be great.

  2. The source file sound like it is in MPEG2 (SVCD) format.

If this is the case you need an MPEG2 codec to for TMPGEnc (as well as Windows Media Player) to view the file properly. I either downloaded one from Morpheus or from a link found somewhere on http://www.vcdhelp.com

i found out the problem. in the Properties in WMP ( right click on the video and go to properties ) i found a Ligos MPEG Splitter. I changed something in there and it works now. i cant tell you exactly what it was i done because now there is only info about Ligon MPEG Splitter in the propertiess for it, the settig are no longer there. But now the audio is about a second behind the video when i go to the iddle of the file. The files worked fine the other day. i dont know what to do to get them to play fine so i can edit them. Any more ideas?
