  1. I have burned a dvd, using TMPGEnc and everything is great except that the audio is really loud on the television, to the point where I have to turn it almost all the way down. Any suggestions?

Errr.... turn it down on the DVD player instead?

Seriously tho' thats the opposite of most audio loudness problems (its usually audio to low). Do you want to re-encode or just live with it?

did you use ac3 or mp2 audio?

and are you in an NTSC or PAL country?

before I started using ac3 audio, all my discs sounded hella loud on my player - mp2 audio isn't NTSC standard, and not all players will play it correctly - my Apex plays it back much louder than the original volume.

    He's in an NTSC country.

I've noticed that my commercial DVD originals and backups have the volume lower than my own captures. It all depends on where it was set when the video was created. If it's too loud, and you had captured it, try recapturing with a lower volume setting.

not necessarily. I can see that being the issue if the audio was too loud or distorted all the way through the process, but only once it's burned?

using the same audio file (.wav) from the original capture, I've authored discs both ways, using mp2 audio and ac3 audio.

in PowerDVD, either set of files plays back at approximately the same volume. once I burn the discs and play them back in my set-top, the ac3 sounds like it did on the computer - the mp2 is amplified to (and sometimes past) the brink of distortion.

    YMMV.

  6. So how do I tranfer or change Mp2 to ac3 audio files? What programs do I need?

BeSweet will convert either mp2->ac3 or wav->ac3 for you - I'd suggest using your original audio, rather than converting a conversion.
