  1. My source has a resolution of 448x336 @ 24 FPS:

Should I encode to CVD: 352x480 or VCD: 352x240

    Any suggestions?

    Hello,

VCD will get more time at lower quality and nearly 100% compatibility.

CVD will be much less time and nearly no compatibility.

    VCD is my vote

  3. Lets ask this way: Compatiblity and the time that should fit on the disc doesn't matter, only the qualilty counts: (encoding with VBR at 1732 kbits/s)

So again, source res is 448x336 @ 24 FPS:

    CVD: 352x480 or

    VCD: 352x240

Should I better upsize or downsize the source resolution?

It doesn't matter if you make cvd or vcd if know how to change picture size without stretching.

If you wish to keep the resolution, go with 480x480. If you don't mind the smaller size, go with 352x240. Whichever way you choose, use a crop filter and get rid of all the black borders around the picture screen, then set the aspect ratio to "full screen (keep aspect ratio 2)" if you're using Tmpgenc. That will keep the picture from stretching.
