  1. Ok,
Im trying to watch some movies that i got on my computer ( i,robot & matrix ) ( I have a ATI Radeon 9600 XT ) I plug in the S-video cable from the v-card to the back of the tv, i change the settings for output on the monitor and tv, then I reboot the computer. Everything is displayed properly on the tv from the computer ( desktop, background, icons, ) but when I open divx and go to play the movie its black, no picture no audio no nothing... I see everything but the movie on the t.v ( I can see the movie on the computer ) but not the t.v.

also I have no sound what cables do I have to use? RCA? What is the name of the cable you have to plug from you sound-card into the tv??

So If anybody could be of service and assist me It would be greatly appreciated.

  2. I had this same problem. Use zoomplayer. Under options go to filter control. Make sure video renderer is set to 'Video Mixing Renderer 9'.

Be better off buying the movies or if these are legit backups convert to vcd/dvd to watch on a standalone player

what i had to do was get an adapter that converts the sound card plug > RCA (red / white).

btw, how is that video card for TV-OUT? i mean how's the quality on it? as far as desktop and movies are concerned. thanks and gl!

  6. The quality on my card is just ok. I can't read the icons on my desktop, but anything bigger then that is leggible. The DVD player in my XBOX is a piece of shit, so I ussualy use my TV out to display DVDs for that TV which look pretty good, my only gripe is that the picture isn't all the way centered.

As far as the cable for the audio got to circuit city or best buy and look in the audio section for a mini jack-to-RCA cable. Depending on your PC you may have extra sound out ports that you can use.

You need a minijack to 2 rca splitter for the audio (red and white) or use coax/optical if you have a reciever or DVD player with aux in to accept 5.1...S-Video is VIDEO only it carries no audio...ditto YELLOW RCA's!

To set up your TV-out correctly read this:

Desktop quality is good hard to read font ( due to large tv ) but besides that... The movie quality is GREAT! I thought i was watchen a dvd for a minute ( until i looked over at my computer screen ) you cant really tell the difference unless you focus on one object then you can see the pixels etc. But yea I highly recommend the ATI Radeon 9600 XT great buy!

    Thankyou!
I finally got the picture on my tv using zoomplayer fixed everything, however I got in high frame action parts theres a little jerkyness and somewhat laggy in the middle ( only on certain parts ) anyone know how to fix that?? The rest of the picture is perfect besides the middle, it will jerk and lag for a seconnd. You get use to it after a while but I would like to fix it... Im a have to go to best buy and get a rca jack for my sound card and everything will be perfect !

    thanks everyone !!

  9. As far as the jerky picture I know exactly what you are talking about. I have the same problem in high motion scenes. I haven't figured out how to stop it, so if anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it as well.

  10. I use a Shuttle box to play video on my TV via s-video out from the onboard video card. As posters have noted it's a bit hard to read the font but the Shuttle has a BIOS setting for TV out that causes many of the Windows fonts to be quite large and therefore readable. In this instance I found (well on my 20" TV anyway that s-video was measurably clearer than composite video.

Video output is fine but no matter what I do the picture is always slightly framed inside the TV image with black borders. This is with Media Player, BSPlayer and PowerDVD. It's okay though.

Also since the Shuttle has no real monitor and only uses a wireless mouse and keyboard (after it's a PVR setup in my bedroom) I usually work on it remotely using Remote Desktop Connection over a wireless connection.

    Computer is PROGRESSIVE DISPLAY device.
TV is a INTERLACED DISPLAY device.

Now use that info and search the forums and glossary a bit.
I already explained this in another thread of yours (or somebody else with the very same question, just days ago).
