I have just successfully region code hacked my new Insignia NS-DVD1 (changed region code to 0). Thanks f00!!! I now can play a DVD which I purchased in Italy on the DVD player. However, every few minutes the picture "rolls" (moves in a continuous fashion up towards the top of the screen), then comes back fine. This pattern repeats throughout the movie. The sound is perfect all the time. I've found nothing in the troubleshooting guide in the Insignia manual.
Anyone have any quick fix?

It sounds like poor format conversion. Either your player is trying to convert PAL to NTSC and not doing it too well, or it is using a hybrid signal, like PAL60, which your TV can't keep up with. I don't believe it has anything to do with the hack, other than that it allows you to play non-NTSC discs and expose the short comings of your equipment in this area.
You might be able to have your TV adjusted to handle the signal better, or it might be a setting you can adjust yourself. Some TVs hide most settings completely, others (like my Loewe) allow you to play around a surprising amount.Read my blog here.

No offense, but did you really expect to find troubleshooting tips for playing a disc that the player doesn't officially support?
If you really need multi-region PAL support, look into getting a player that supports it.Google is your Friend -
The question arises, though (sorry if I'm reviving an old topic, but I just bought the NS-DVD1 today to replace my old Cyberhome CH-DVD500 and I successfully enabled the region-free hack)...anyway, as I was saying, the question arises:
Given that the means _does_ exist to set the DVD's to various regions and to Region 0, isn't it possible that there's also a menu or option hidden somewhere in the player's firmware that allows the machine to be set to play back either NTSC or PAL? I know, from doing some Googling, that the machine is sold in the UK (which, of course, uses PAL TV) so I infer that there must be some way in a menu to switch between the two formats.
For the record, I didn't see the picture-roll problem that italiangirl mentioned in her original post when I tested the player earlier this afternoon, but then I played the three discs I tested only briefly. It's also possible that the problem might be specific to that particular disc.
(EDIT: I just tried one of my Region 2 DVD's in the player, and let it run for a bit over 20 minutes on the assumption that if the picture-roll problem occurred, it would happen within that timeframe. It did not; the picture remained steady and stable. Also, there is in fact a PAL/NTSC output menu. It applies to the kind of signal the TV can receive, and it's accessible via the SETUP button, in the "Video" menu; the options are PAL/NTSC/AUTO.
The disc I tried was a "freebie" disc originally handed out to subscribers by a British newspaper, so I assumed that if any problems with picture output occurred, they would have to show up when that disc was played back due to the presumable low quality of disc reproduction. As noted, no such problems occurred, at least not within the 20-minute timeframe in which I played that disc. I am seriously wondering if the problem italiangirl reported may not be after all specific to the particular disc she was attempting to play. As I just said, the quality of disc manufacture and data reproduction can vary widely, so it's entirely possible she just got a disc with some problem that interfered with proper playback. Or it could be a problem with her specific player. Not every individual unit of a specific model will always work as advertised - I'm sure we've all come across enough instances of manufacturing quality varying wildly from unit to unit! Fortunately, the NS-DVD1 is cheap enough that if one unit doesn't seem to work properly, you can always try another one and see if that particular one works as it's supposed to without too much of a hit to your wallet.)
