How about the Pioneer DVR-320?????
I really like the chasing feature and most important to me is that it be mostly trouble free. The Panys rate high as far as trouble free goes but you have convinced me the picture quality is sub par compared to most others. Also the JVC scares me because of the many repair problems I have read here.
Your opinions are welcomed. -
The Pioneer offers a nice balance of reliability and quality.
In coming months, I'll be buying either a Pioneer or ILO (something under $200, therefore JVC not an option).
The 220 is supposed to be the same as the 320, and may be slightly cheaper at Costco or Walmart. (Verify that 220=320 on your own.)Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

I've been using a Pioneer 210s for 8 months or so and just bought a Pioneer 420H-s with an 80gig hard drive (for storage and editing). Both machines have been flawless so far and are a true joy to own. Both machines record DVD-R, DVD-RW. Also, they both have the option to record in VR mode* (for editing) with an RW disc. Editing is well thought out, and a breeze! The best feature by far is the manual (VBR) bit rate selection.
A year or so ago I tried a Panasonic unit and can not understand why some people rave about them. I was disappointed on many levels.
*NOTE: VR mode is not supported by most DVD players or most software, but that will change as time goes by. -
