    Hello,

You know every morning when I go to work there are at least two or three cars with those damned High Intensity Bluish-white headlights on...

And they always have their BRIGHTS on!!!

At least in the US they should outright BAN them. They're a distraction because they are so different from ALL THE OTHER STANDARD HEADLIGHTS!

    END RANT

Yep, they should get reprimanded for driving with full beam on. over here it's popular to drive with main beam and fog lamps on, even when there is no fog. that pisses me off.

    Ban them. Agreed.

It's usually the same ******** with fancy rims. You know, the ones that have 10 inch tires and block traffic on the highway because their piece of shit cannot move faster than 45mph. Usually has some stupid noisemaker on the exhaust too.

It's a real shame that muscle cars evolved into this crap.

I hate them for the same reasons - they blind oncoming drivers, even when in low mode.

Local police around here have a rule on them, they will pull you over if they are blinded by them or in some cases, even see them on your vehicle. Reason being - most of the kids who put them on their hondas or ford focuses buy the cheap imatation ones that do not have the DOT certification logos and numbers that are required to be on lights on vehicles in the US. If it's just the bulb itself and not the whole light assembly - they check the alignment of the beam and hit them with an 'inspection violation' citation and require that they get a new inspection done and confirmed by the state police.... that usually will find other safety violations once they do that.... I personally have noticed less and less of the lights anymore... the cars, well, they keep popping up... some are actually good looking while most are just annoying and loud...

i hate those also - and your right , they are not aimed right or have the correct light dispersion in many cases .

and WHY do so many people drive w/ their fog lights on - in the city ?

That's assuming you have a police force that actually goes out and polices

We have a police force in Albuquerque that makes moss seem hyperactive. They nap in their cars all day, ignore red-light-runners in front of them, and for a while there thought the best way to discourage a suicide attempt was to shoot the suspect dead

I hate those "supernova"-strength lights since I drive to work every morning from 5:30 - 6am and it's always dark. These blinding lights destroy any night vision I might have and make me see spots.

Those little soup cans aren't muscle cars!!! 8)

A muscle car weighed 5000 pounds, dripped oil all over the ground,

Uhm.. you sure they have their brights on? Those are pretty bright lights on normal setting. I don't find them so much of a pain they should be banned though. Being kinda night blind I would love some if not for the price being +$$$$

  10. In my state its illegal to have them unless they have auto levelling built into them which the proper ones (as seen on BMW etc) have.

Still doesn't stop the ricebox wankers having them. I just laugh when I see them with these dim blue faded headlights because they bought the el cheapo brand that only lasts a month.

    Question for Yoda......

Is your poll for factory-installed HID lights
    or aftermarket ones?

A lot of cars around here have the factory ones.

Same here in the UK, Auto-levelling is a legal requirement.

As for driving with Full Beam lights when there is oncoming traffic, people who do that regularly soon get the same treament from other drivers. This generally helps them see the error of their ways, or the way into the nearest hedge if their brain is not quick enough

Actually it isn't a poll just a rant.... And many people seem to agree with me

As for which type I dislike ALL of them that aren't the standar "yellowish white" headlights that have been around for decades....

Yeah, I should have clarified my position on this - the factory ones in the higher priced cars are ok with me. I've never had any of those blind me like the cheapo ones in the hondas and such.... didn't know about the 'auto-leveling' thing. Guess that just makes the patrolman's job a little easier when it comes to knowing who to pull over...

And Cap - yes, it is nice to have an ACTIVE police force that seems to use common sense when it comes to enforcement.... I'm lucky in that respect - some neighborhoods that I drive through obviously have little enforcement of any traffic code.

I'd take them if they were given to me, but only if they were quality HIDs. HIDs draw nowhere near the power that regular halogens do so for a performance aspect they're fantastic. The less draw on the electrical system the better. However I can see just fine with my lights right now and when nobody is around I can flip on the 70w floods and light up what's in front of me as if it were day. I agree that running around with fogs/driving lights is annoying, but it's mostly because people feel that if they have that on their car they should show it off at all times, or they're too lazy to turn it off. If I had mine on I'd be blinding folks left and right but I hardly ever use my high beams let alone my floods. I usually only use those when barreling through the woods at night going to/from my cabin (private drive).

The worst lights are teh Ford F150 trucks with the fog lights on the bumper that are BIGGER then the headlights!! I turn on my fog lights, then wait a second then hit the brights and leave them on the whole time they are coming at me. His brights are dimmer because the fog lights shut off when the brights are on.

I see Chevy is doign that with their Sivlerados now. Damn them.

    LS

PS they get brighted every time, the only exception is if it's actually foggy or bad weather. Why the hell should they be on in a clear night?

The lights on my Xterra are HID's but they are not blue. There is something about the intensity of the blues that make them much brighter than bright whites. I do, however, have issues with people passing me. They are always giving me the high-beams flash even though I'm on low-beam.

It's one way. I wasn't exaggerating either. There are two cases that happened within a few weeks of each other:

#1 - Man is holed up in his home. He had called 911 claiming he was going to kill himself. The police arrive and start talking to the man through the window. He was a veteran going through some shell-shock episode. The police break down the door and the man is standing about 10 feet away from the officers, in his stocking feet, holding a butter knife. Two cops immediately shoot him dead on the spot

#2 - A man's wife called this one in. They have a pickup truck in the back yard. The man is sitting in the front seat, has a gun, and is threatening to blow his head off. The police circle around to get a good angle on him, then shoot him dead

Nope. There was a huge public outcry over that, and a shakeup in tactics. I'm not sure if it did any good, but at least we haven't heard about any similar incidents lately. These incidents had happened about 10 years ago.

Something that I don't like is the lifted trucks with the huge tires that ride around with their brights on. Because when they pull up behind you their bright lights are lined up perfectly with you rear view mirror. Not only that but everything in the damn car gets bright. When a car gets behind you with brights on you can just flip your mirror up but not with these trucks, the damn light is everywhere.
