I do not have enough video tapes to justify the purchase of a TBC or high priced clarifier from Facet ($150.) However, this device does a nice job and is very cheap $29.95 + $4 + shipping. For those, who are like me, this is a viable solution.

Hello,
Also the hauppauge wintv pvr 250 removes macrovision on its own without a hack. So if it's just mv you want to get rid of look for the right card first
BUT a tbc will be nice for improving quality. I'll have to look into that one you linked myself
KevinDonatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
My uncle gave me one of these years ago, but it was the predesessor I do believe.
It ran off of a 9V battery only, no option for 9V from AC adapter available.
I wanted to get rid of the dark to bright transitions(macrovision I do believe) from running the DVD player through the VCR to the TV.
It didn't work for me.
It also didn't work for my capture card wrongly identifiying home video from a comcorder as having macrovision and placing a white block bar in the middle of the captured video.
Good to hear it worked for you.
The one I have could of been busted, who knows.
Maybe I'll take it apart sometime and try scoping it. -
These things never work 100% of the time.

had one of those along time ago & it was okay. I don't think it can do the new MV levels. -
I might add that I just picked up a 9 volt AC adapter to use with it. This beats the batteries any day.
If it does not do all VHS, it no doubt does the lion's share. Most VHS I encounter are old, so this suits me just fine. -
I had another cheap box that would do blooming when it encountered a white screen.
