  1. I went shopping last week and found this phone
    THE small ASS phone

Anyway, I thought to myself "No one in their right mind would get that...it's just crazy." Went to a party last night...not 1 but 2 friends have this new small phone. Damn...now I need one...

NEC has one for some time smaller -- much thinner (8.6mm)
AND with color display and camera included ...

NEC shows world's smallest mobile phone 1:43PM
One to make western gadget lovers turn green. NEC has unveiled its slim, card-shaped N900 phone (pictured, top).

Promoted by the electronics giant as one of its flagship models, the card-shaped phone measures just 85mm (w) x 54mm (h) X 8.6mm (d) and weighs just 70g. The ultra-compact device supports GSM/GPRS, has a 1.8 inch TFT colour display and also carries a 300,000 pixels digital camera.

The phone, however, will only be made available in China, states NEC.

'The world's smallest and slimmest mobile phone, the N900, is a symbolic flagship product representing NEC's leading position in mobile terminal technology', said Koji Yamasaki, General Manager of NEC China Mobile Terminal Business Division. 'NEC will continue to offer new, innovative mobile terminal solutions, with compact shapes and employ the latest product technologies'.

The pendant-shaped N910, meanwhile, is another new phone. This one is aimed at female users - according to NEC - with its external LCD capable of being used as a mirror. Measuring 52mm x 57 mm x 21.2mm, and weighing 76g, the phone comes with a 300,000 pixels digital camera, 64 polyphonic ring tones and supports motion JPEG video filming for 15 seconds.

That sucker is so small, you could lose it easily.

I can think of a couple of views of the future of cell phones. One is a 'communicator' like in Startrek, as a pinned on badge that works like a cell phone. The other is a device that fits in your ear, dialing done by voice command. I'm not sure if I like either of these ideas, but they are probably coming, if not here already.

I suppose cell phone technology could somehow be integrated into our body in the far future. Kinda scary, maybe implants?

There comes a point where it's too small, IMO. The displays get so small you need an electron microscope to read the caller ID message

Plus, how many of those could slip out of your pocket so easily you'd never notice it? Still ...amazing that they've gotten them so tiny and still kept the talk time at a reasonable number 8)

I kind of wish the inventor of the cell phone would have gotten hit by a small commuter train right before conceived the cell phone idea. For all their convenience, they can be really annoying. Besides, what did we do before cell phones? Nothing. We waited until we found a phone. Now, everyone and their uncle Jimbo has a god-damned cell phone! There is nothing more annoying than talking to someone and they stop the conversation to answer their cell phone. Another thing that totally pisses me off... stop ******* with the cell phone when you are not calling anyone or no one is calling you. What is so important that you need to look at your phone and press 15 buttons (making it beep) every 15 seconds? Take your cutsy little cell phone with its SpongeBob ring tone and jam it straight up your ass.

I was all geared up to get myself an mpx on release until reading that it is pretty much crippled with only 32MB or RAM. Won't be getting one now

I also find it annoying how there are so many people talking on cell phones in the stores now. It's so bad sometimes it's like stores have become like the perverbial school cafeteria. On the bright side, I see greater upside potential on getting hit by other unattentive drivers. I got hit 3 times so far this year and made about $1000 on it (about what my car is worth). Even if I do the repairs, and I hope to eventually, it only costs me $43 for a used bumper at the junkyard.
