  1. Hope this is the right forum. I've got a NEC 2510A dual format burner. Recently, I purchased some Budget Infosmart 1-8x DVD-R discs. At the time I wasn't aware they were 1-8x-they were advertised simply as 8x. I have DVD Shrink set to burn with Nero-this has always worked well with previous discs. Now, however, Nero starts the process and then reports an error. Are multispeed discs wrong for this drive or is there some magic setting I should be using? Or could it be just be the discs?

    That would be my guess.

  3. I'd use dvdinfopro to get the media code, then look it up here to see if other users are reporting similar probs.

  4. Thanks-I've done that. Do I need to quote the complete media code and in which section do I look?

Just the first part of the MID (media identification code).

    some examples:

    YUDENT001, MCC03, TYG02-000, SONYD08.

Note: BUDGET has been known to sell FAKE Taiyo Yuden media.

Media codes with YUDENT00x and TYG0x-xxx are Tayio Yuden media codes - one is for 8x +R the other is 8x -R, but I always confuse which is which
