Its done , just waiting for wise to distro...
whats new / fixed.
fixed... HUGE bug in title mode that would crash the app...
( dont know why nobody saw that one before )
fixed... Non PGC Title Extraction , now maintains correct VOB sizes over the VTS.
plus numerous ( i mean lots ) of small fixes to improve reliabilty...
New.. in title / chapter mode , if the VTS has cells with Zero time ( bad ) it will automaticaly skip them and commence on a good cell..ARccOS do this on the main feat usualy.
New ... MTR will now rip over bad sectors on the disc , padding the bad data as ness... == no more SECTOR ERROR, RIP ABORTED messages!!!!
New .. SONY ARccOS detection , will now detect ARccOS disks and switch to one of the 2 new modes ( full disk or and main feat ) ..
New .. will detect DUMMY VOBS in FULL DISK , ARccOS Full disk , and ARccOS main feature.....
seems some companies are putting on vobs that are not referenced , but are full of data errors.... we dont rip these now...
hope wise will release soon.

Does this one work well with Dual Processors. I still have to disable one of my processors to get my current version of MTR to work. Otherwise it just quits out on me every other or every 3rd attempt.
Just curious -
I'm out of town right now visiting my folks for turkey day; I should be back this weekend for a release (after I update the manual to reflect the new changes).
As for dual processors, It's an issue with Appkit that also affects iMovie and DVD Studio Pro. Apple seems to be working on a fix for Appkit in MacOS 10.3.7, so we're hoping that will fix the remaining instabilities. If not, maybe MacOS 10.4 and Xcode 2.0 will fix things. Personally, I have a 2x2GHz G5, and it crashes very seldomly. When it does, I simply run it again, and it works fine. I think disabling a processor might be a bit drastic, but if it's really crashing that much with both enabled, that would be a problem.I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté." -
wow, good news that is
and here a little request if it's possible to implant it: a status bar in dock icon just toast 6 has. i know it's a little gimmick but it's useful cause i just need to look at the dock and no need to jump the app itself
anyway, looking forward for next release -
sweet!and for the record, never had a problem with MTR
thus far on my Dual 1, running 10.36,
and Insanity APE 1.42,
as a compnent for AHP.
My only concerns are the bad block sector failed,
which I'm seeing a lot since I've been buying used
discs/PVTs.
Sometimes cleaning helps, other times not, and I just
frustrate my local rentailers by constantly returning for
"exchange of same title", until I get one that works.

will this fix the crashes i get when using MTR with a Pioneer A08XL drive? If possible to get a hold of a copy to test that would be awsome
-
Not sure about that. The crashing problem is caused by use on a dual-processor Mac, not because you use that particular DVD drive. It's a bug with some of Apple's libraries, and also affects iMovie and DVD Studio Pro. It seems that they're working on a fix that might impact this for MacOS 10.3.7, and if that doesn't fix it, then maybe MacOS 10.4 and Xcode 2.0 will...

i am on a 867 DP and have no problems with MTR and my DVR-104, but MTR seems to not like the DVR-108 for some reason, i will try switching to single CPU mode and see if that helps at all.

What is the crashing problem you're having exactly? What happens if you play the DVD with DVD Player before you try running MTR?

Yes! Finally, I can kill off DVDBackup for good! Despite the fact that I switched to MTR from DVDBackup once it hit version 2, I still had to keep the now defunct program around because it did one thing that MTR didn't: it didn't bomb completely on disk errors, and gave you the option to skip bad files and continue processing. That made DVDBackup useful for data recovery on cheap, old, and "improperly mastered" disks. Now that 2.5 will be much smarter about dealing with bad/unreadable sectors and other disk errors, I can drag DVDBackup to the trash. DVDBackup is now officially dead. Thank you! -
I requested , some time ago , for support to help fund the purchase of a 108 , but as nobody , bar one , wanted to help , i didnt get one , so i cant fix ANY issues that relate to DVR108(A08) drives.
Geezerbuttz -
damn.. i wish i had the money to get one and send it to you.. i could chip in like a little bit o cash if someone else wanted to help out on this.. Anyone??
-
also i would be happy to include any crash logs or anything to help out with the a08. Also the problem i experience is a long time in scanning for RCE, and then when it finishes it copys the first file on the DVD and says the user cancelled the operation. dont know if that helps but i hpe it does a little.

Does playing the DVD with DVD Player first change anything? How about installing hacked RPC1 firmware?
I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté." -
i will try playing it in DVDPlayer but it works fine in the A04 drive no problems..
-
I've been using the 108 along with MTR 2.0.2 and Hacked RPC1 Firmware from Gradius for awhile. No problems whatsoever. Looking forward to the 2.5 release. Great product as always guys.

I would like to know if MTR has encountered a problem with the disc so I may try to clean it or source another one from the store rather than just accepting it is damaged. -
hey Falcon .... The special One of cost , just for you to implement the features that YOU PERSONALY want is ... $100.
for that you can have all that you want ,
BUT as nobody supports the dev of the app , you get what ...I WANT....

hehehe...Well said geezerbuttz...I got one donation after more then 30.000 downloads of my app...Then some people said I should go shareware...and I did...I didnt get rich, of course, but now I feel much better and adding improvements with the smile on my face...You know what I mean...

When 2.5 encounters a bad sector, it will attemp to read it a couple times, then it will skip over it, pad the output with a sector's worth of dummy cells, and then proceed to the end. At the end of the extraction, right before the Bomberman™ sheet, you'll get a notification dialog saying that read errors were encountered, procede at your own risk.
It looks like it's going to be a bit longer until the release, and Geezer is busy adding a new feature (demuxing and stream support), and changing a few things. It's not clear at this point whether the update will be called 2.5 or 2.6. Stay tuned... Meanwhile, my G5 tower is in the shop due to overheating problems, and random shutdowns (/me shakes his fist at Apple)...I like systems, their application excepted. its gonna be called 2.6 , and its complete, you can now demux to m2v,ac3,or DTS in title - title/chapter mode.
release date...
Dont know....want to get a Dual layer NEC before i release ( new plans ), so you will all have to wait ( or support the app ! )
so no drive = no release.
geezerbuttz. -
Okay, time to pony up. I will match up to $40 of whatever people want to donate to geezer. Now of course this donation is just because you think geezer is a neat guy who should have a NEC dual layer drive, and NOT IN PAYMENT for MTR. wise or geezer, pm me the e-mail addy and I will paypal over $40. If it is not matched by Friday the tenth I'd like the balance back. I've seen the drive OEM going for around $65. $80 should be enough to get a reputable dealer and maybe part way to an enclosure. (if necessary)
No, you do not get a tote bag with that.
