I have other 108's in other computers that recognize it fine. Nero 6 demo recognizes it but I would rather use 5.5 so I can burn at 2x. Has Nero stopped supporting new drives for their older burning rom versions? Does the newer 108's have a different firmware that is not supported by Nero 5?
Thanks.

Hello twinegar
Well I don’t have any real answerers for you but I did just install a pioneer a08 which I think is the same as the 108. I was also using Nero 5.5 which worked fine on my TDK 420n DVD burner. But with the A08 Nero would recognize the burner and I could burn DVD’s but when it tried to finalize the disk it would get an error. I ruined 3 DVD before I D/L the Nero 6 demo. Now I have had no problems burning at all. So I guess the older Nero must not support the newer drive fully.

It's not Nero that is preventing you from burning at speeds less than 4x, it is the Pioneer itself. Pioneer doesn't support burning at less than 4x with the DVR-108 on media that is rated 8x or faster.
