  1. I have a big problem with the r200 prints smearing if they get even a drop of water on them.
I have been searching the forums and it seems most people are using Krylon or Spray Fix to coat the disc. I just wanted to get some feedback on how this is working for folks.
I was also wondering if anybody made a generic cartridge substitute that was more reistant to liquid for the r200?
I spoke with Epson and they would never say the ink is colorfast they just kept saying if it was smearing it either had not dried enough (1 disc dried for a week and a half) or too much ink was being put on the disc (I took it down a notch in the color correction setting and the picture looked faded). I'm using the memorex disc they suggest.
I guess my final questions are these:

    Does the Krylon thing work?
Is there a more resistant ink that can be bought?
Where do you get your ink?
What disc have been the best with this printer as far a picture quality and ink absorbtion? Where do you get your disc.
Has anybody printed on a premium disc with the r200? How did it look.

    and finally..

Has anybody come up with something to spray on regular disc so they can be printed on.

Thanks everyone! Sorry about the load of questions, I'm new to the disc printing thing.

Appreciate it and have a Merry Christmas or whatever you celebrate!

  4. Hey guys great advice. That's kinda like if it hurts don't do that.

I have 2 kids that handle all their own DVD's and CD's. Kids get wet hands. That's just reality.

Thanks for the link, I'll check out the spraying thread.

    Have a Mery Christmas!

Don't invest money on nice things for kids. They'll just break it anyway. Or in this case, smear it.

Yep... Gave up puting back-up's in cases with printed disks... Just use Std disks with title written on in a plastic slip.... They all end up in a heap on the floor under the bed at some point so why waste the money...

Don't forget sweat is liquid. Touch the disc with your finger without drying carefully on a towel and you could see the same results.

Have you ever had to shout bloody murder at someone who 'points to something' on your monitor and the only thing you see is the long finger-sized smear across it from their 'clean and dry' hands?

I do it ALL THE TIME. Don't even think about touching my monitor.

I keep a good sturdy ruler near by for such occassions.

    A finger goes up... *smack*

Seriously, I've had people try and point out things on my monitor with pens!

    *dot...*

    ....*smack!*

    Merry Christmas & Happy Hollidays
