"Illegal track" error on Roxio

I've been backing up my dvds for a year now using DVDXCopy Platinum wtih near 100% success....... Also copying those burns with Roxio Creator 6 also with even higher success...... until recently...........and yes, I know some don't like these programs but we've used them for a year with NO PROBLEMS whatsoever......
I first noticed that some movies would freeze and skip through when playing some recent burns. Those particular movie copies, when copied again with Roxio, would give me a "illegal track" error during the read process.....
I had just changed media to 8x so thinking it was writing a little too fast, I switched back to 4x media and refreshed my firmware for the writer and checked anything else I could check. My son has the same software and he has had NO problems at all...........
I thought I had it licked when yesterday the same error showed up........ BUT.... it appears the error occurs when I use my dvd reader to copy to my writer..... and when I use the writer itself to copy back to itself, all does it properly with no problems...........
Something has changed and I am just wanting a dialog here on this forum in hopes of locating this problem so I can go back to burning as I have for so long.......
