  1. Here is my problem. I have a number of CD's with various types of files on them (AVI's, etc), which are varying resolutions, compressions, etc.
Now, I'm using ULEAD to attempt to put them on DVD player compatiable DVD's for TV viewing. Here is my problem.
When I try to burn the DVD, the studio slows to a halt doing the file conversion. I can set a manual file style that is identical to the files I'm trying to place, but if there is more than one style, that still slows down, as it seems to demand that all files be one file type. I.E., if I set for
    MPEG files
    24 Bits, 352 x 240, 29.97 fps
    Frame-based
    (Video CD-NTSC), 4:3
    Video data rate: 1150 kbps
    Audio data rate: 224 kbps
MPEG audio layer 2, 44.1 KHz, Stereo
And one file is some other resolution, like 400x500 (or something else, it still changes it). That's not what I'm looking for-- I want it to arrange the files, let me use the menu function but just leave the files in their original form, for good or ill when I put it to the DVD.

So, is there a way to disable this file converting feature, or is it impossible, and ULEAD will always convert the files to one particular resolution/type on the DVD?

    Thank you,

First they have to be DVD compliant if it's 400x500 it has to be converted to a DVD compliant resolution, see DVD under the "what is" section to the left for the specs. There's no getting around that.

For your files that are DVD compliant look in your options, project settings etc. for the "do not convert compliant files" check box. If you check that VS will only convert the non compliant video. I'm not sure this feature is available in 7 but it is in 8.
