  1. i have a mpg file and i use tmpgenc dvd author ,when i have loaded my file ,i get this message the video GOP is too long
    dvd video required the gop is structed below
    36 fields (18 frame ) ntsc system
    30 fields (15 frames) pal system
    i need pal system
    if you are using the xdvd format ,you can ignore this
    do i need tmpgenc xpress or can i ignore this
    or what did i wrong or must do
    i only have this mpg file not the original
    thx

    Hi gringos,

    How did you get your mpg file?
    Did you encode it yourself?
    If so, what did you use?
    If not, I don't think there's much that can be done apart from (possibly) re-encoding from MPEG to MPEG but with settings to correct the problem.

    You could try accepting the message and continuing - author onto a re-writeable DVD in case it doesn't work.

    I thought that that only fixed the sequence header problem, not changed the length of GOPs?

    I've used it on VCD MPEGs encoded with TMPGEnc Plus (which, by default, uses an open GOP in its VCD templates ) and MPEG-VCR has fixed (and closed) the GOP for me
