Who often do people clean their DVD burner/players? My burner has started burnning at 1X again. Do you recomend any particular type of cleaning method or product?
Big Government is Big Business.. just without a product and at twice the price... after all if the opposite of pro is con then wouldn’t the opposite of progress be congress?

I thought my old A05 crapped itself a couple of weeks ago. At first I thought my media was to blame. Then I thought my burner was to blame. Then I bought a DVD lens cleaner & whacked it thru a couple of times. Since then, I've burnt a 100 or so disks, and they all check out green & go.

If that didn't work, I was going to take LordSmurf's suggestion & take the top panel off & use a cotton-wool bud & surgical spirits to clean the laser direct.

I'll keep that up my sleeve...

Yes, clean your burner every month or 2!!!

I wonder how many people chuck/replace their burners when all it needs is a quick clean???

EDIT: BobV, that's a truthful signature, mate!

  4. I don't see any guides on this yet. Anyone try it with laptop rom's? Just curious, cuz my laptop's samsung combo unit crapped out long ago, thinking I may just have to attempt this on it. Will the laser lens be as accessible, beause the cleaning disc did not affect anything. thx

Yep, i've done that for years with PSX, PS2, CD & DVD Players....
Espc. if it's a smoking home as those disc cleaners don't do a very good job.
