  1. Hi, I'm having this problem where i cannot change a .sub file that is with an .idx file into an .srt file, I don't know what proggy I should be using?

I know how to change a normal .subs file into a .srt file but if the subs file is with a .idx file, the many sub convertor programs dont recognise the file? please advise thank you.

I've tried looking for a guide or something but so far i havent had much luck. thank you.

You don't list what you've tried. Subtitle Workshop is one I'd recommend if you haven't already used it.

    hi, sorry about that,
    ive tried using...

    subtitle workshop
    subtool

erm.. i cant remember anymore atm sorry.

you see, I was using the AVI2DVD proggy and wanted to add subtitles using the program (as in switchable subs using this guide i was following)

if i were to use ordinary .sub files by itself it would be ok, as would .srts but for some reason an .sub file wiv a .idx file together and it wont be recognised.

To convert vobsubs to srt's or any other form of textsub you need to OCR them with something like SubRip. Not sure if subtitle workshop can do OCR or not.

Use SubRip to get TEXT format subs THEN use Subtitle Workshop to edit and change the appearence etc.
