  1. Hi,

what is the best settings in Procoder 2 to convert from Huffyuv to MPEG2 DVD compliant? the source is a slideshow, every pucture has a timing of 4 seconds, the transition is 2 seconds. Is better VBR or CBR?

As I understand it VBR is a techinique to save space. If you have a high motion scene followed by a low motion scene the encoder will 'borrow' bit-rate from the low motion scene to get better quality in the high motion scene. It's a balancing act....

That being said I don't think you'll see any difference between the two in a slide show but, you may see a smaller file size with VBR.

If file size is not an issue just use CBR and the "highest quality" or "mastering" setting....

    very thanks for the answer.

  4. Do the pictures in your slideshow just fade into one another? (dissolve transition)

    Or are they more complex?

I suggest the use of a bitrate calculator so you get an idea of how much stuff you can put on your disc at a quality you find acceptable. Then try those figures in Procoder and see if you're pleased, if not tweak em a bit.

VBR doesn't borrow. It just allocates a higher bitrate for more complex scenes based upon the settings you've indicated (min/avg/max bitrate).

  5. Hi freestyler,
my transition is very simple: just fade into one another.
My goal is get more quality possible.
It is not a problem of size file.
I use Huffyuv because with Codec DV the quality is pover compared to TIFF image.
