Hi,
I want a specific piece of music for a home movie. I am planning to download it and it comes in WMA with 'permission for 7 CD burns'. Is this type of music normally able to be used unrestricted for use as a soundtrack? For private use of course.
Is there any good guides on this type of subject?

Falls into the gray area if free of charge home use and limited non-commercial distribution. Unresolved by the courts.
Will they come after you?
Only if it comes to their attention through public display.
That means don't enter the tape into "America's Funniest Home Videos".
Edit: That is unless there was more than 'permission for 7 CD burns' in the terms and conditions of the download provider. In that case you may have a problem with the download provider.
Better to buy the CD. And if you buy the CD, arrange to find it "abandoned in the street and I just picked it up and i was playing it while the camcoder just happened to be on and ...."
and nobody ever confused me with being a lawyer either. -
Thanks. The issue was more: Will the tools (Windows Movie Maker amongst them) handle the WMA? I'm not so concerned about the legal issues unless it interferes with the technical side.
